Little things…
Understandably, everyone has their off days. I know I occasionally do. It is undoubtedly frustrating to be stuck in a negative rut. Especially now that the Boston days are getting colder and shorter (it drives me crazy to leave work and see minimal sunlight-I honestly need to invest in a sun lamp), I incessantly ache for little things to make my days happier and to decrease these “off” days I have. I wanted this post to focus on some tips and tricks that have helped me re-balance on days that are tough.
In the past year, I have refined my list of short attainable goals that take 5 minutes or less. By completing several items on the list daily, I have noticed a tremendous exhilarating burst of energy.
- Light a candle (I recommend any Voluspa candle- they smell fantastic!)
- Run up to the roof to watch a snit bit of the sunset (or sunrise when I have the will to wake up early)
- Burn palo canto wood (I like to burn the stick of palo canto I have and walk it counterclockwise in my apartment to fumigate the area. It has a rich, buttery, woody, citrusy smell to it and also has a lot of therapeutic and medicinal qualities)
- Turn on my aroma essential oil diffuser (I especially like lavender and eucalyptus)
- Tidy up my apartment (de-cluttering my space has also helped with de-cluttering the chatter in my mind)
- Listen to music (I like to listen to music rich in major chords to start off my day. It naturally makes me happier. I also like to close my eyes for a few moments and listen to binaural beats. Binaural beats have the power to enhance brain function or suppress stress- I listen to binaural beats a lot when I meditate; its calming effect is truly infectious!)
Additional to the quick tips above, I also like to throw in yoga sessions several times a week. Yoga has been imperative to improving my health, physically and mentally. As I have mentioned in my “about me” page, I am obsessed with the mind body interplay and with this infatuation, I have discovered that the best method to balance my mind and body is through yoga. The practice of yoga undeniably also helps release my muscle tension and decrease my mental chatter.
These practices just dabble with my yearning to explore indefinite ways to improve my wellbeing. Although these tips may seem rudimentary, I promise you they have drastically brightened my days. Perhaps they may help you, so try it out! I am trying to be more conscious with the choices I makes, especially choices that embrace positivity. So please share with me any tips that make your lousy days better!
I cannot thank you enough for reading this post and continuing to follow me along this journey.
Love always,
Feli
PS. while writing this post I found a snazzy sunlamp on Amazon. If you are craving that extra vitamin D, check it out!
