Thankful for Food

Now that all the turkey tryptophan has dissipated from my body, it is only natural to share with you what I am thankful for, publicly, post Thanksgiving holiday. The list of what I am thankful for is endless. I am firstly grateful and humbled for the opportunity to be with loved ones over the holiday amidst the beautiful yet daunting chaos patronizing this world. I also feel obliged to be thankful for the phenomenal food this past week, so let me spend the rest of the blog, chattering about my LOVE for food.

Loving food is a necessary component of my life because I am a foodie. I am a foodie because I am seduced by the raw manifestations of food, specifically its creativity, excitement, and sublimity. My emotions toward food is far from simple. My senses-sight, smell, taste, touch, and sound-only capture the primitive nature of food. The creation of food is boundless, infinite, and surreal and it is a pity that we, as humans, are restricted to the 5 senses to experience food’s gifts. However, our limits are inspiring. With our limited senses, we have been able to discover glorious and bountiful combinations of flavors. We have been able to accentuate the underlying aroma of ingredients by deconstructing their biology. We have learned to understand that ingredients are interconnected and are driven to become one.  Our capacity to work with this limitless framework is exhilarating.

These possibilities are why I look forward to cooking everyday. This is why I daydream about what I can create with the leftovers in my fridge and why, during my childhood, I used to stop homework just to run down to the kitchen to participate in crafting perfection.

Last week, I was blessed to be able to create art with my family. We worked true to our nature and embraced our passion for food. Below is a gallery of mouth watering, exquisite food that would not have been possible without the talents, fervor, and devotion from my family members.

PS. Over the holiday, my family binge watched a new series on Netflix called “Final Table”. I must warn you, it is extremely addicting. I highly recommend!

Thank you for reading my post about food, food and more food.

Love always,

Feli <3
